Hi all,
Welcome back for 2018.
It is finally time to release version 1.0!
I’ve been working on this update since September last year and it’s a big one. It’s by far the biggest update I’ve released both in features and UI changes.
You can get this update from http://sportsvotecount.com.au/download/
There will be another update before August so if there is anything you want added or changed then please let us know.
This is a list of the main changes. There have also been lots of other small tweaks and bug fixes.
News section
This allows us to send any updates or information to the app instead of having to email everything.
Images can now be split between ‘Image Groups’
Previously you have had your images that you use for every presentation, you can now break them down into groups so you can have a different set it images for different presentations.
Sample Images
We now have a selection of images that you can import and use during your presentation.
Custom Slide Groups
Previously Custom Slides had to be tied to a specific vote file. Custom Slides Groups let you essentially create a standalone presentation that only has Custom Slides.
This is very useful for when you want to show your awards all together separate from a vote file.
Custom Slide Creator changes
The window to create your custom slides has been redone so you now have a live preview of what it will look like.
Custom slides can also now be shown in full screen and shown at either the start or end of a round.
Schedules
A problem with SportsVoteCount previously has been that when you want to change to a different presentation you have to close the current one and then select the next one.
You can now schedule them to appear one after the other automatically. Custom Slide Groups can also be scheduled to run automatically.
With the implementation of schedules, there are also a couple of ways to move between presentations during a schedule:
-The obvious one is at the end of the presentation it will automatically go to the next one.
-The presentation title at the top of the screen is now a dropbox and you can change between presentations by clicking on that
-You can also use a key command similar to skipping between rounds. Control + Up/Down Arrows skip between presentations.
Importing Licence File
You can now import a licence by opening the file itself instead of importing through the app. Licence files now have its own icon.
Top 5 Leaderboard can now be completely hidden
You have always been able to hide the names in the top 5 leaderboard but now you can completely hide that box as well.
Final Results Screen changes
You can now set it to show either the top 1, 3 or 5 players or the full leaderboard. In any case the full leaderboard can be shown at any time.
The winner now takes up the majority of the screen and the others are shown down the bottom. The winner wasn’t noticeable enough for me previously.
Option to hide and reveal vote title
You can now hide the number of votes until the player has been revealed.
Keyboard timeouts
Keyboard commands now have a short timeout after being pressed. This helps stop accidentally skipping through the presentation.
New key command
The ‘B’ key now shows and hides the on-screen buttons during a presentation.
Memory Improvements
The program now uses much less memory when displaying your own images
UI changes
There have been some big interface changes. The main one is that the Votes/Presentations buttons are now moved into a sidebar instead of sitting in the middle of the screen. This is because those screens no longer open in their own window so have to stay be visible all the time. The buttons still look the same, they are just moved.
There have been a few other changes, you still press the same buttons everywhere but some are just moved around so it shouldn’t be too much of a change.
Import from MyNetball
You can now import your votes from MyNetball in a similar way to how we can import from SportsTG
New Tutorial System
The User Manual has essentially been built in to the program.
Closing Presentation
Previously the only way to close a presentation was to press the Esc key. Now there is a close button and also if you press Enter on the final results it asks you if you want to close it.
Validate Player Names moved to Votes screen
This is still an important double checking feature but is now found on the Votes screen under the Tools menu. It shows you a list of every player that scored votes so you can see if any were entered twice with different spellings.
‘Config’ folder created in Project Folder.
Preferences and other settings are now stored in a new folder called ‘Config’
New version banner shown at top of screen when update is available
This is in addition to the new version popup that will still appear.
Round number now has transparent background when buttons are hidden
Isn’t necessary for it to look like a textbox when you have hidden buttons.
Hope everyone likes the changes, a lot of it was customer requests.
Let us know your feedback on any of the changes or if there is still anything else you want it to do.
